Publication Announcement: Paper Authored by Marco Boetti, ESR7

The Philofluid Research Group is pleased to announce the recent publication of a groundbreaking paper authored by Marco Boetti in the International Journal of Multiphase Flow.

Marco’s paper, titled “Pair dispersion of inertial particles crossing stably stratified turbulent/non-turbulent interface,” delves into the study of the pair dispersion of inertial particles crossing two-layer stably stratified turbulent/non-turbulent interfaces (STNTI) of finite thickness. The research addresses a critical problem of two-particle dispersion in complex fluid flows, which has significant implications for a wide range of applications.

In this work, Marco investigates STNTI flows, which are composed of non-homogeneous turbulence, density stratification, and the effects of their interaction, such as internal waves. The problem is tackled through numerical simulations, with two direct numerical simulations (DNS) of STNTI flow being performed to gain deeper insights into the behavior of the particles in these intricate conditions.

Congratulations to Marco on this noteworthy accomplishment. We are excited to see more of his impactful contributions to the field of fluid dynamics and look forward to his future research.
